Cookies Policy

What cookies we set, why, and how to control them — including GA4, Meta, Stripe, and consent records.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They let the site recognize you, remember preferences, and measure how the site is used. Similar technologies (local storage, pixels, SDKs) work the same way for the purposes of this Policy.

2. Categories we use

Strictly necessary

Required for the site to function. Examples: session cookies that keep you logged in, CSRF tokens that protect form submissions, the cookie-consent record itself. These cannot be turned off in our system because the site won't function without them.

Functional

Remember choices you've made (e.g., last-viewed listing tier, dismissed banners, language). Disabling these may degrade your experience.

Analytics

Help us understand which pages visitors use, which paths lead to listings or buyer applications, and where the site has bugs. We use aggregated, IP-truncated analytics. Where required by law (EU/UK), analytics cookies fire only after you consent.

Marketing & attribution

Used to measure the effectiveness of our advertising and to retarget visitors with relevant Newral ads. These fire only with consent in jurisdictions that require it. We do not sell your information to advertisers.

3. Specific cookies you may see

  • nl_session — strictly necessary; keeps you signed in to the acquisition platform.
  • nl_consent — strictly necessary; stores your cookie-consent choice for 12 months.
  • nl_pref — functional; remembers UI preferences for 90 days.
  • _ga / _ga_* — analytics (Google Analytics 4) where consent is given; up to 13 months.
  • fbp / _fbp — marketing (Meta) where consent is given; up to 90 days.
  • __stripe_mid / __stripe_sid — strictly necessary for Stripe checkout fraud prevention.

4. Third-party services

Our checkout uses Stripe, our SMS uses Twilio, and our analytics may use Google Analytics 4. Each sets its own cookies subject to its own policy. We use these providers under written contracts that limit how they may use your data.

5. How to control cookies

  • EU/UK visitors see a consent banner before non-essential cookies are set; you can choose categories.
  • You can clear cookies in your browser at any time (Settings → Privacy → Cookies).
  • You can opt out of personalized ads at aboutads.info/choices and youronlinechoices.eu.
  • You can install browser extensions that block trackers (e.g., uBlock Origin) — the site will still function with them on.

6. Do Not Track

Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. Industry consensus on DNT has not converged; we currently honor explicit cookie-consent choices instead. Where Global Privacy Control (GPC) is sent, we treat it as an opt-out of marketing and analytics in jurisdictions that require it (e.g., California).

7. Changes

We update this Policy as our cookie use changes. Material changes are flagged on the site.
